This Golden Mullet Chowder recipe is a tier 4/Artisan Cook dish. While fishing remains Middle-Earth’s only hobby (as of the writing of this recipe), there are few ways to use up the many fish in the game. For today’s dish, we use 1 Golden Mullet (substituted with haddock, or another white fish) to make a hearty soup that improves vitality and will.

For a heartier soup, we have replaced LOTRO's mullet fish with haddock.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon (salted) butter
  • 1 bunch green onions, white and green parts, sliced (about ⅔) cup
  • 1 ear of corn, kernels removed and set aside
  • 1 potato, diced
  • 1 large tomato, diced
  • 1 pound haddock, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups seafood broth or stock (can substitute vegetable, chicken, or beef)
  • 1 sprig parsley, plus 1 tablespoon chopped to garnish
  • 1 pound other seafood: shrimp, lobster, or crab
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1

In a heavy-bottom pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add green onions and cook, stirring occasionally for 2-3 minutes. Add corn, potato, and tomato, and saute for 5 minutes.

2

Add haddock, milk, and seafood stock. Add parsley sprig and cover pot, cooking for 10 minutes over medium to medium-low heat (be careful soup doesn’t boil over; I like to leave the lid cracked a little bit to prevent this from happening).

3

After the soup has boiled for ten minutes, check the done-ness of your potatoes and add any additional seafood you wish. Shrimp, lobster, and crab work especially well here. If using pre-cooked seafood, cook for 3 minutes. If using raw seafood, cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.

4

Taste chowder and adjust flavor with salt and spices.

5

Serve with crusty bread and garnish with parsley.

Notes

Gammer Brigman Tip: *Save your green onion stems to plant in the ground! You will have endless, harvestable green onions.
